With the participation of the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, the exhibition "With the President to Lány or Presidential Automobiles from the Collections of the National Technical Museum" was inaugurated on Monday, July 1, 2024, in the grounds of the Lány Chateau. The exhibition, organized by the National Technical Museum and the Administration of the Prague Castle, is open daily except Mondays from 9:30 AM to 5 PM. Admission to the exhibition is free.
For several decades, the National Technical Museum has been purposefully building a collection of automobiles closely linked by their operational history to the most significant events in the history of our country. This collection includes a set of automobiles used by our presidents.
The exhibition in the grounds of the Lány Chateau presents an overview of all presidential cars through text and photographs, in the context of contemporary events.
From the museum's collection, an important car of President T. G. Masaryk, the Tatra 80, will be on display. This car is a permanent highlight of the museum's exhibition in Letná and will therefore be exhibited in Lány only for the first week of July. Until the end of August, the exhibition will feature the Renault 21 TSE, which President Václav Havel used during the first three months of 1990 after his election, the Mercedes-Benz S 600, which became the flagship of the Prague Castle garages in 1993 and accompanied Václav Havel in his official duties and private life for the following eight years, and the Škoda Superb V6 2.8 of Václav Klaus. These cars will be complemented by the Aero 50 HP, briefly used by Edvard Beneš while in exile in Great Britain.
The exhibition will run from July 2 to August 31, 2024.
