The collection of engineering metallurgy encompasses the processing of iron in engineering factories through casting and forging. The foundry collection includes steel and cast iron castings, foundry tools, models, molds and their components, foundry furnaces, and foundry equipment. Through these items, the technologies of casting into sand molds, lost-wax casting, shell molding, and other manufacturing processes used from the 18th century to the present day are captured. The historical foundry operation is documented by a large model of a foundry, which was acquired for the museum's collection as early as 1914. The forging section predominantly contains die forgings from the 1st and 2nd halves of the 20th century. In many cases, the entire technological process is documented, from the initial semi-finished product through individual intermediate stages to the finished product. The machinery is documented by precise models of forging hammers and presses, made and used for teaching at the Prague Polytechnic in the 19th century, as well as excellent models of the latest forging machines from the Žďárské strojírny company from the 1970s and 80s.
