Collection of Non-Electric Lighting

The collection of non-electric lighting consists of 350 exhibits that document various methods of illumination used before the introduction of electric light or concurrently with it. The oldest examples of lighting technology include iron hanging baskets for burning logs and torch holders. This is followed by candlesticks, portable lanterns, oil lamps, and lamps. A significant group consists of kerosene lamps in both table and hanging designs, featuring various mechanisms for adjusting flat or cylindrical wicks. These lamps often showcase very interesting design solutions. The last developmental group of non-electric lighting comprises gas lamps, predominantly represented by interior lamps and chandeliers, supplemented by a few outdoor gas lanterns. The collection also includes a small number of lighters of various types and designs.
